Volunteer With Us
Our club wanted to support the new area of focus of Rotary - Supporting the Environment. A committee was formed to research and create a plan to collect Styrofoam. Committee members are Beth Long, Rebekah Goolsby and Daniel Landeros.
 
Our club will be collecting clean Styrofoam the first Saturday of the month at the SFC Farmers' Market at the Burger Center, 3200 Jones Rd, Austin, TX 78745 from 9 am - 1 pm. Volunteer with us!

 

 

Did you know:

  • Styrofoam is made from petroleum and is 90 percent
    air and does not easily biodegrade.
  • Styrofoam releases toxic chemicals when it breaks down.
  • It is, as such, one of the hardest materials to recycle. 
  • Special and costly machines are needed.
  • It could take up to 500 years to biodegrade and decompose properly.
