Pop-Up Birthday

With a passion for helping others, Kristy Peloquin’s career has always gravitated towards public service. After earning her MFA in poetry and creative writing from Texas State University, she began working for the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission. Kristy went on to serve as Assistant Professor of English with Austin Community College for over eight years. In addition, Kristy also created curriculum for and led therapeutic creative writing programs for a grief and loss counseling center and is the founder of a nonprofit called Class Libre, which provides informal humanities education for adults in the Austin community.

In 2019, Kristy joined Pop-Up Birthday as program director and quickly fell in love with the mission of spreading joy to children in foster care by providing meaningful, personalized birthday experiences. She feels a special connection to the children served by Pop-Up Birthday because she has witnessed a close family member suffer with life-long effects of childhood trauma.

In her role as executive director, Kristy’s ardent wish is to grow the positive impact of Pop-Up Birthday on the lives of children in foster care so that every child wounded by circumstances beyond their control can feel loved, seen, and celebrated.
