We are excited to continue our long tradition of collecting Coats for Kids Southwest in conjunction with the Travis County West Rural Center.  The West Rural Center is a non-profit run by volunteers that supports the Travis County Community Center in Oak Hill. This service project has been led by George Kennebeck (holding pink jacket) for the last five years and George is passing the torch to Gary Cataldo after this year. George is one of our beloved senior members who helps with all the projects and he is very much appreciated and loved.  This year in his honor we will name the project George’s Coats for Kids.

Coats are needed for all ages and sizes.  With the ice storm we had last winter and our unusual summer weather, we want to be prepared to hand out lots of coats for the kids.  Our goal is to break the record number of coats collected which is 210.  Collection will begin October 4 and the deadline for receiving coats and monetary donations is December 7.  Distribution day will be December 11.

We do accept gently used coats which are cleaned by Wash and Dry Cleaners. Collection barrel locations are:

1. Bancorpsouth (Monterey Oaks Branch): 5501 Hyw.290 W
2. YMCA Oakhill: 6219 Oakclaire
3.Southwest Family  Fellowship 71:  8203W. Hwy.71
4. Oak Hill United Methodist Church: 7815 W. Hwy. 290
