Ten of us attended the Rotary Foundation Dinner Saturday night representing all of you for our Club. The President of Rotary International, Barry Rassin of the Bahamas was the keynote speaker.

Although there are alot of introductions and kudos given out at this dinner (not too exciting), it was impressive to hear the RI president speak. He has had an outstanding career as a hospital administrator in the Bahamas bringing quality healthcare to Nausau.  He was one of the first to facilitate getting supplies to Haiti after their horrible earthquake and hurricane with Rotary support. This was all made possible person to person through Rotarians in Haiti and the Bahamas.
He showed film clip that illustrated how the Rotary Foundation can change lives one at a time. The young lady in the film clip was virtually an orphan but through her teachers in her schools she was chosen for a Rotary Exchange program that changed her life.  Our Club has been at the forefront of giving to the Foundation over the years. If you have any consideration to donate towards  a Paul Harris Fellow for yourself or a friend, family member, please speak to Roblyn Thorne, our Foundation Chair. There are points available to match your contribution to make your required donation half of what it would be. A Paul Harris Fellowship requires a $1000 donation. With our Club points you can contribute to the Foundation for a Paul Harris Fellowship using our Club's matching points for $500. Or you can donate to the Foundation with a contribution of $100 for "Every Rotarian Every Year" sustaining sponsorship. It goes to humanitarian causes and is used wisely by the Rotary Foundation with very little administrative fee taken out.
