Tim Buckley was born & raised in Wichita, Kansas. Majoring in history, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wichita State University. In 1972 Tim joined the family business, Buckley Industries, Inc., which fabricates fiberglass insulation, foamed plastics and sponge rubber materials for various industries. He is currently Vice President of the Polyplastics Division, and a director and co-owner of the company. His Rotary classification is "Plastics-Foam Fabrication."
In 1979, Tim met and married Gail Edwards Roper, and in April of that year, he also became one of the first fourth-generation Rotarians in the Rotary Club of Wichita, Kansas.
Moving to Austin in 1986, Tim has been a member of the Rotary Club of Northwest Austin since 1988, and has served his club in many areas, including President in 1993-1994. He served District 5870 as the Governor Nominating Committee, as District Trainer, New Club Extension Chair, Assistant Governor, District Secretary, Finance Committee Chair, District Governor in 2009-2010, and currently chairs the Stewardship Subcommittee of the District Rotary Foundation Committee. In 1998, Tim was inducted into the District Roll of Fame. He has more than 20 years of perfect attendance. Tim is a RI Foundation Benefactor, a member of The Paul Harris Society, The White Hat Society, and he and Gail are Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation. Tim and Gail have joined Rotarians in immunizing children against polio by participating in two National Immunization Days; one in Ghana, West Africa, in 2006, and the other in Ghaziabad, India, in 2011. He has also served since 2010 on the Zone Institute committee for Zones 21b & 27.
Tim's interests beyond Rotary and work include hunting, fishing, golf, and church, although not necessarily in that order. While in Kansas, he served three years as State Chairman of Ducks Unlimited. He and Gail have served on a number of committees, and chaired several, at their home church, Bethany United Methodist Church, in northwest Austin. Tim also serves on the Board of Directors and the National Advisory Council of the Wichita State University Foundation.
Tim and Gail have three children, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
